Wedding Reception Games That Keep the Party Going!

Your wedding reception is a celebration of love, but it’s also one of the biggest parties you’ll ever throw. Alongside the food, dancing, and toasts, wedding reception games are a fantastic way to break the ice, keep guests entertained, and add some unforgettable memories to your big day.

Our wedding photo and video team has captured some of the most joy-filled, candid moments during these fun and interactive traditions. From classic crowd-pleasers to trendy new favorites, these games and dances bring energy, laughter, and a whole lot of personality to your celebration!

The Shoe Game

A fan favorite across generations, the shoe game is equal parts sweet and hilarious. The couple sits back-to-back, holding one of their own shoes and one of their partner’s. A host reads questions like “Who is the better cook?” or “Who said I love you first?”, and the couple raises the shoe of whoever fits the answer best.

Guests love the honesty and humor of this game, and it makes for excellent candid photography and memorable cinematic video moments.

The Money Dance

Also known as the honeymoon dance, the money dance is both cultural and practical. Guests pay a small amount to dance with the bride or groom, often pinning money to their attire or placing it in a sash. It’s a fun way to interact with loved ones and raise a little spending money for your honeymoon.

We love capturing the heartfelt hugs, laughter, and joy shared during these dances - especially between the couple and their older relatives!

Musical Chairs Scavenger Hunt

This updated twist on musical chairs gets everyone involved! Guests are divided into teams and asked to bring random items to the dance floor (like a red lipstick, a wallet, or even a sock). The last team to deliver the item is eliminated, and the game continues until one team wins.

It’s fast-paced, full of laughs, and leads to some truly funny photos for your photo and video team to capture!

Photo Table Dash

Want to make sure you get photos with all your guests? Try the photo table dash! The DJ plays a fast song, and during that time, the couple runs from table to table posing for quick photos with each group. It’s efficient, fun, and adds an energetic element to your reception.

Plus, we’ll capture plenty of fun group shots that feel spontaneous and full of life.

Other Crowd-Pleasing Favorites

  • Anniversary Dance: Married couples are invited to the dance floor. The DJ gradually dismisses couples based on how long they’ve been married, leaving the longest-married couple for a special spotlight moment.

  • Wedding Trivia: See who knows the couple best with a round of customized trivia.

  • Lawn Games or Table Games: Giant Jenga, cornhole, or table games like “Who Am I?” offer quieter, more relaxed entertainment options.

Make It Fun, Make It You

Reception games and dances are more than just entertainment - they’re a chance to let your personality shine, engage with your guests, and create unforgettable moments. We can help capture every laugh, dance move, and hilarious reaction throughout the night!
